Riveria in a nutshell
Pohjois-Karjalan koulutuskuntayhtymä, Riveria (FI) or North Karelia Municipal Educatin and Training Consortium, Riveria (EN) organises vocational education and training in basic (upper secondary), further, and specialist qualifications, also liberal adult, and summer university education. Riveria’s operation covers the entire region of North Karelia formed by the 13 municipalities, the owners of Riveria. The training centres are located to Joensuu (the capital of North Karelia), Kitee, Lieksa, Nurmes, Outokumpu and Valtimo. Annually Riveria provides education to around 17 000 students and about 740 staff. Riveria provides learners the possibility to participate to international projects and complete a part of their professional training abroad in foreign companies often in collaboration with local VET providers.
Riveria also hosts many international students per year under Erasmus+ individual mobility, Nordplus and other similar progrmmes. Foreign students are welcome to take part in the full qualification programmes, complete certain modules or do an apprenticeship in local companies under the guidance and supervision of Riveria’s teachers. Riveria teachers and other staff members also take part in exchange programmes and other partnership projects.
